Communication, Professionalism, Respect: Creating the Best Relationships

The best relationships in our lives are those in which we treat and are treated with respect. Effective communication is the foundation of professionalism and respect in healthcare, and it is also one of the strongest predictors of patient trust, team collaboration, and willingness to recommend care. In fast-paced clinical environments, even brief interactions can either strengthen relationships or unintentionally erode them.

This webinar will focus on practical, evidence-informed communication strategies that help clinicians and staff establish quick rapport. Participants will explore three relationship-building tools — micro-affirmations, the 4 Habits approach, and “chunk-and check” communication — that can be applied immediately during conversations with patients, families, and colleagues. Through examples and real-world application, participants will learn how small communication choices can signal respect, reinforce professionalism, and improve experiences for those receiving and those providing care.
