Approximately 1,800 veterans die every day – that’s approximately one-quarter of annual deaths in the US.  It is projected that 600,000 veterans will die each year for the next 10 years.  Yet only 15% of veterans use the valuable end-of-life healthcare benefits they earned from the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  The VA provides a variety of healthcare benefits specifically for elderly veterans, including geriatric healthcare for those with complex needs.  These programs can be received at home, at VA medical centers, or in the community.

This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the services available to veterans facing end-of-life decisions, including support opportunities for veterans and their families.  Learn the critical role of hospice and palliative care in guiding vets through decision-making and respecting their personal culture, religious beliefs, and values.  Veterans have earned our nation’s respect and gratitude and the VA’s end-of-life healthcare benefits provide the dignity and recognition they deserve.

Attendance certificate provided to self-report CE credits.
Social workers and nurses in Maryland receive 1.5 credits through the Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland. Please email your attendance certificate to Katherine.lally@hnmd.org, members receive credit for free, nonmembers incur a $20 processing fee.
